General Ledger Analyst (With MIS Preparation)

Job Summary:

The GL Analyst will be responsible for ensuring the accuracy and integrity of the General Ledger, maintaining compliance with accounting standards, and preparing timely Management Information System (MIS) reports. This role requires strong accounting knowledge, analytical skills, and attention to detail to support management with accurate financial insights and reporting.

 

Key Responsibilites:

  1. General Ledger Accounting
    • Record and reconcile journal entries, accruals, provisions, and adjustments.
    • Ensure accuracy of all GL accounts and timely completion of month-end, quarter-end, and year-end closings.
    • Perform reconciliations for bank, intercompany, vendor, customer, assets, and liabilities accounts.
    • Ensure compliance with applicable accounting standards and internal policies.
    • Prepare balance sheet schedules, TDS reconciliation (26AS), and intercompany reconciliations.
    • Clear debit balances in creditors and credit balances in customers periodically.
    • Prepare bad debt provisions for aged debtors across group companies.
    • Support statutory and internal audits, providing relevant GL data to auditors and tax teams.
    • Monitor outstanding balances and promptly resolve reconciling items.
  2. MIS Preparation & Reporting
    • Prepare periodic MIS reports, including P&L, Balance Sheet, Cash Flow, and Variance Analysis.
    • Analyze financial data and provide insights on revenue, expenses, margins, and cost controls.
    • Support budgeting and forecasting processes with accurate GL information.
    • Develop dashboards and reports in Excel to aid management decision-making.
    • Prepare ad-hoc financial and operational reports as required by management.
  3. Process Improvements
    • Automate and streamline GL and MIS processes to improve efficiency and accuracy.
    • Strengthen internal controls and recommend improvements in accounting practices.
    • Collaborate with cross-functional teams (AP, AR, Payroll, Operations, etc.) to ensure accurate reporting and reconciliations.

 

Key Skills & Competencies:

  • Strong knowledge of accounting principles and standards.
  • Hands-on experience in GL accounting, reconciliations, and financial reporting.
  • Proficiency in MS Excel (pivot tables, lookups, dashboards, charts); knowledge of BI tools (Power BI, Tableau) is an advantage.
  • Analytical mindset with excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Strong communication and presentation skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet strict deadlines.

 

Qualification & Experience

  • Education: B.Com / M.Com / CA Inter / MBA (Finance) or equivalent.
  • Experience: 2–5 years of experience in General Ledger, MIS, or Financial Reporting.
  • Systems Exposure: Experience in ERP systems (Tally / Trakker / JMM Portal) preferred.
